Kevin and I have been growing pesticide-free Lavender at Purple Haze Lavender in the beautiful Wairarapa valley for over 12 years. We were Foundation members of The New Zealand Oil Producers Association (NZLOPA) formed in 1994, and are now Foundation shareholders and Director of The Original New Zealand Lavender Company Ltd, a co-operative that now has 10 member farms throughout New Zealand.

Our Farm at Tau Mata Island is of free draining soil and produces quality oil from some of the earliest plant material brought into the country from France by the Research centre in 1987.

Kevin works in close conjunction with scientists at Industrial Research in Wellington. Together, we have had mutual benefits and have supplied them with plant material for several projects. New Zealand Essential oil of Lavender is quite distinctive from other types and is getting a good reputation for it's own unique notes and healing properties. Clean and crisp, is how I would describe it, rather than the old fashioned cloying perfume.
